who-dun-it

This week we get to go to the bus library again.  I was going to check out a mystery, I love me a good mystery, but recently got to do my own sleuthing at home...so I'm good.  Besides, I'm too busy reading with the kids to read my own books. --And since it's Advent, that means we have new books every day to read!

Here is a little bit of how it played out.

The crime scene:
For anyone unsure...that is RED marker on the carpet

Was this sock just worn thru the crime scene? Or a part of it?

HA! I caught you RED handed.....hehehehehehee

Hmmmm....

I had a post I was preparing today....with pictures.

When I went to load the third picture, I was told "oops you're out of free 1GB of storage, would you like to purchase more?"

No...I really would rather not.  But if I don't purchase more space, that means no more pictures from now til Jan. 1st.  Not that I have a ton of readers, but the ones I have are loyal...and Aunts and Grandmas and others would protest!

And recently, I took a few pictures.

Apparently through blogger I get 1 GB a year of free picture space.  So close to a new year!  To purchase more space, it starts at $5 for 20GB.  Obviously 1 GB is almost enough, and this is the first year I've met the max...so 20GB, which they claim will store up to 10, 000 pictures seems excessive and is only good for 1yr.  And it will take 24hrs for it to apply to my account.

I'm looking into my options.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish all of you the very best and a very Happy Thanksgiving...even if Grandpa cheats, or the score keeper wins or sugar is forgotten in the pumpkin pie.  Eat too much, laugh till your belly hurts, and then eat some more. It's a great day.

May your day be enjoyable and memorable.

Don't forget to show your gratitude for your many blessings.  No matter where you are in life, you're still richly blessed!

We are healthy and well.  We will be spending our day with friends from church and their family ( and strangers to us waiting to become our friends).  I'm taking homemade oatmeal bread and Pioneer Woman's Whiskey Maple Cream sauce, they'll have no choice but to love us!

And you know what this means?

It's nearly Advent....I think Thanksgiving is my favorite day holiday of the year, but Advent is my favorite Season. Does that work?

It's coming.....

It's coming. Advent is coming.  One of my most favorite seasons of the year. Advent.

I am so excited about Advent.

Every year I am.

Ironically, Advent is a time of expectant waiting and preparation.  Who likes to wait?  No one.  But really that is what Advent is all about.  Waiting and preparing.

And I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Advent.

It could be some of the traditions that we have begun, it could be all the excitement.  Searching for wandering sheep and first family members is not so fun, however, I love watching the kids during this time and talking about Advent, which leads to conversations about Christmas...but I can't help it, I love Advent and can not wait for it to get here.

I guess that means I really should put away the Halloween books, take down the cobwebs (hehehehe, I let the real spiders help with those!) and get my pumpkins cooked up and pureed.  Advent is coming!

Aye' Aye' Captain!

We haven't set out to sea.

Nor have we been captured by pirates, although I do have a shirt that CJ says makes me look like a pirate.

No, we have our very own Captain in our lives....and CJ has already taken to calling him so.

I'll give you a hint...it's one of these two goof balls!

Monkeys

The weather has been really quite perfect around here.  So fantastic that a person who was visiting might get the impression that this is how wonderful it is year round.  We have been walking CJ to school.  Since Sweetness and Kjetil like to investigate each ant they see along the way, they must ride in the stroller so that we get CJ to school.  To school is mostly down hill.  Home, is therefore, uphill.

As a quick side note to those of you who had to walk up hill both ways without shoes on to and from school....my guess you didn't have shoes on because you couldn't find them when you walked out the door.  Our children have shoes. We have a shoe cubbie.  However, when it is time to walk out the door, shoes are missing.  As we were walking the other day, I realized that Sweetness did not have shoes on.  We walk through actual dessert land, and climb up a retaining wall, shoes would be a very good idea.  Yes, she is in the stroller most of the time, however I kick the little ones out at the wall, if they have shoes on.

Due to after school gymnastics three days a week, I typically don't walk to pick CJ up from school.  However, Friday, we had nothing going on and I knew a trip to the playground was deserved so we walked.  And stayed to play.

I took children to the playground, but the monkeys showed up.

The littlest monkey showing he's not so little, and can do it by himself!

Over and over he did it again.  Even if the biggest monkey was on the other side climbing at the same time

And this monkey can do it too!

They had a great view from the top. Mommy had her own scary view on the bottom

Coming down...

Monkey on the monkey bars

I don't think you're suppose to climb there monkey.

After an hour of climbing and running it was time to head home.
However, all the monkeys were tired and required a ride home...uphill for Mommy to push, great work out!

Do you like how they all "match"? CJ and Sweetness wanted to be twins and Kjetil had already gotten dressed in the same colors.  This is not typical, typical would be miss matched self dressed monkeys.

A budding photographer?

It seems that when I import pictures, there are always a couple of extra surprises.  Sweetness.  She is sneaky in grabbing the camera and getting a couple of shots taken.  Sometimes I catch her, but not always.  Most of her pictures are what you would expect from a three and half year old.  Once in a while she gets some real moment shots.

Every photographer takes pictures of their family pet.

Relationships
She caught him counting during a game of hide and seek.
I love this picture of him.

 Still life

Here I tried to get her picture, and she had her own idea of how it should look

And this is her brother's interpretation of her pose

She has a few things to figure out yet, but the best way is to play around!  Mommy does the editing for her, selectively deleting pictures of the wall, the ceiling, the back of a chair really close up.  But she just might have an eye for this kind of thing.  It will be fun to watch her grow and explore, everything!

Exciting times

Eric's sister is about to have a baby, any day.  Very exciting!  It will be their second child, their oldest is just a few days younger than our little guy.  Great to have cousins so close in age, if only we actually lived closer to them.  A four day drive does not seem close!

I am show casing here a recent project I did, which will also get mailed off to my sister in law, sometime after Tuesday.  Tuesday I am teaching a stamping/paper crafting class on base at the Waiting Warriors group.  This is a group of spouses that meets twice a month to support each other while their spouse is deployed.  I have never attended this group, but I was honored and excited to be asked to come and do crafts with them.  They even requested a project, the journal.

I enjoy making and giving journals.  Admittedly when school supplies are on sale and composition books are about twenty cents, I have a hard time holding back.  I think this year I only got 15, or maybe it was 16....or maybe it was closer to 20, anyways, this is my go to personal and teacher gift.  It is appropriate for a birthday or any celebration, a great thinking of you gift or in support during a trying time.  Of course the recipiants can use the journal however they want.  Grocery lists, honey do lists or random passing thoughts.  Each will find the perfect use, I'm sure. In typical way of things working out, I have never actually kept one for myself and whenever I am looking for a notebook or paper Eric is amazed I haven't made one for myself.  One day I will.

This one will be given a few personal touches after Tuesday's class.  Right now it is my example for them to follow and make it uniquely their own.  It has been a long time since I really pulled out my supplies and paper crafted.  It feels good and it feels even better to be doing it for the Waiting Warriors.  An important battle all of its own is fought on the home front when duty calls.

If you would like to see some Christmas cards that I made and have a chance to win them, check out Recipe Cut Outs. Wendy is doing a wonderful 30 days of pie theme for the month of November, and we have the honor of attending her annual pie party, which is coming up and I am very excited for that!

Amazing costume

Check out this transformer costume.  I think Eric is already dreaming and planning for himself, or even worse, a whole family of transformers.  He, CJ and Kjetil might have the flexibility to pull this off, but I know I don't and Sweetness seems to take after me in that department.

Push play again and see if you can get your mind to slow it down to see how it is done.  I have no idea!

Check him out!

You wanna mess with me?  Let me finish my power cheese stick....

And get control over my hair.
 Just call me Bam Bam...

What can I say?  I have wonderful big sisters and they do so many cool things I have to try them out too!
Not every boy can pull this look off like I can.

I'm also tender hearted and will make a very good daddy.
I already can handle two babies at once!  Trust me the big sisters have high expectations and standards when it comes to baby care. They don't just let anybody near their babies.

Busted!
Really Mom, the pear sauce was sooo very good I just couldn't restrain myself from the full experience.

See, I'm sorry I made a mess...but I do like your pear sauce.

Sugar overload

This past weekend was the time of year that mothers dread.  Small children running around at bedtime outside in the dark in costume on a sugar rush.  Halloween.

We went to base to check out the squadron party, the girls even tried the haunted house, and well it worked, they got scared!  But first we went to the medical clinic for paperwork issues, and got in on the tail end of trick or treating!

Jumpy house in costume...is there anything more fun?

Saturday we went to a local trunk or treat at a church. It was very dark and I took no pictures. Kjetil went has a firefighter, other wise costumes stayed the same.  I only lost sight of one child for a moment and came home with the right number and proper kids along with loads of candy, so I think it was a success!

 Waiting for Trick or treaters
 Sneaking suckers
We seemed to have lost the train conductor hat Friday somewhere along the way and by Sunday Sweetness wanted to wear the costume.
She did a great job passing out the treats.

Over all, we were done by 7:10 and that was a wonderful thing! Gave us time to settle down and go to bed on time.  I think we are still feeling the effects of a very busy weekend though and hopefully get back on track quickly.

While talking to Daddy

Sweetness, "I'm eating a cracker. It is a square. Not a circle - like my head"  circling her head with her finger.

Life is very full and rich. Whether it is with laughter or chocolate, life is sweet and oh so good.
