Run run run
This week is Vacation Bible School. The girls are having a BLAST with their cosmic adventure! Today they used a telescope to look at the sun, I did not realize that one could look directly at the sun with a telescope. While the girls are traveling the galaxy, Kjetil and I have been doing some van maintenance, no, that's not it, we've been waiting while the van got all fixed up good. Monday the van got a new harness on its sliding door so it slides properly, and today it got new struts, shocks, brake pads and rotor cuffs, fun times I tell you. Today's fix, however took a bit longer than time allowed and we were a tiny bit late to pick up the girls, I called and let them know ahead of time and the teachers were very gracious about the situation. Tomorrow I'm taking banana chocolate chip muffins for the staff, I was already scheduled to do so, but hopefully it will keep me on the "good list".
Last week, and the week before we had swim lessons in the morning. So while CJ will be attending PM kindergarten, we sure have gotten into a habit of getting up and going in the mornings the past 3 weeks. All my pictures from swim lessons are on my phone...I had them put on a CD which my computer can not read. Maybe you'll see them later, maybe not. Sweetness played her stubborn self, until the last 2 days then showed that she could do all and more than what the teacher asked. She even braved the slide by herself! CJ loves to jump off the diving board!
I worked in our church nursery one Sunday. During the first service however, the girls insisted that they go to the service and not be in the nursery with me. How AWESOME is that?!?!!? I found a 'grandma' of the church for them to sit with, and they did very well. Meanwhile Kjetil was having a great time playing with the other kids, he got a nap during the Sunday School hour and during second service it worked out I was getting paid to watch our own three kids --which is a once in a lifetime type of thing.
Believe it or not, our little Kjetil who is not quite 18 months old has been expressing interest in potty training. The first couple of days the girls took over, since they are obviously way more qualified than I am --these might be the best kids on the planet! and Kjetil has had some successes. With our running around schedules though, we haven't been real consistent yet. He had success at the library last week, and today kept saying he needed to go while waiting for the van, but the bathroom was broken, and well not really very clean either. He picked out big boy underwear and loves to wear it...and to take it off by himself and run around like a bandit. It is triple digits hot around here, so who can blame him?
An oil change and tire rotation tomorrow should have the van appointments done for awhile. Last week the van rolled over 100K and we plan to drive it for a while longer!
Now off to run some more. We missed dance last week and have a make up this week, just another item to the to do list. Have a great summer everyone!

Summer activities
Keeping cool and having fun can be a challenge.
Keeping up with our studies, is serious fun!
A little splash park at the zoo keeps us cool
The sneaky button pusher, spraying anyone on the other side of the splash area.
Pumping the water, took work but she got it.

Kite flying
We have had some incredible winds around here. Too windy to fly kites, at least the size of kites we are flying with the current size of the children. However, one morning before it got hot, Eric took the kids out to fly kites. There was not a breeze, but with some running and lots of effort, they got them up and had a blast!
He held on well and even walked around the track with his kite.
Running to keep the kite going
Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest heights.....

I interupt your summer with some wonderful Anita
Anita Renfroe has been a part of the Women of Faith gathering for a while. She is a very funny lady. You may have seen her Momsense video, listen carefully:
Well there were a more than a few dads who wanted some equal time, and Anita came through for them as well.
And recently I came across this gem. It may be a warning to those of us in the middle of Momsense:
Hopefully you have at least smiled--maybe laughed out loud. My job is done...carry on with your summer.

At the park
It was a windy day....too windy for kites
We didn't stay long, since we all were having a hard time even standing, but we had fun while we were there.

Summertime gatherings have begun!
It might be darn tootin' hot around here during the day, but the evenings cool off very nicely. We brought out the fire pit last weekend and had a blast!
Daddy showed everyone how it was done,
and Kjetil was right there to do it himself!
Enjoying the s'mores
We'll have many more nights around the fire. We all love to sit and watch it and what a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends!

We might be giants
We did a little adventure in gardening. We had 2 or 3 potato plants that were doing really well, then recently we have had some very strong winds and the stalks got bent and died. Knowing that the potatoes would not continue to grow without the stalks we dug them out, not sure if we would find any since the plants never bloomed.
Our loot! A nice LITTLE mess of potatoes.
None even as big as a ping pong ball!
We also dug up the few carrots that had been growing since February
All smaller than the size of Sweetness' pinky. Our crops made us look like giants.
However, they were tasty.
We still have a watermelon plant we are trying to keep going. I have never claimed to have a green thumb...I do alright at times, but most of the time not so well at all. I'm sure our gardening adventures are not done yet.
