It took 25 months

It took 25months...but she did it...she finally put something up her nose. Yes, CJ who HATES the doctor's and cried all thru Laurelei's appointment yesterday, today at lunch put a piece of corn up her nose. She didn't really complain too much about it but I did call the Navy's ask a nurse who made an appt. for her at family practice. She freaked out in the parking lot and was climbing away from me and fell into the trunk area of the van...I'm glad there weren't too many people around to see me get her out of the trunk, kicking and screaming. The doctor was the same we had on Friday when I took her in for a possible bladder infection --let me tell you, he did not look excited to see us. He also told me that I should just go to the ER next time for something like this. He will probably try and not be available next time we need an appt. too. It took 3 of us to get a glance up her nose. It was gone, apparently she swallowed it. So all is well, but I think I figured out how to get her to stop picking her nose, "I'll have to take you to the doctor."

what a busy week

Grandma and Grandpa L. left this morning *snif* but we had a great time with them while they were here. We went to the aviation museum, the beach, the zoo, the park and did all sorts of fun stuff. Laurelei had her 2week check up today and weighed in at 7lbs and 11oz...she is doing great! Also today Great Grandma and Grandpa S. stopped by for a few minutes, it was great to see them and Laurelei woke up and took pictures with them. CJ was taking a nap but did wake up just as they were leaving and got to say good bye. These girls are so lucky to have 6 sets of grandparents who love them very much! We hope to get all of them together for a unique picture. We can't wait to see Grandma and Grandpa R. in a month along with Aunt Jenny. We plan to take it easy the rest of the week and be ready for our friends, Bobbie and Emma who are coming next week.

Here are some pictures, CJ has done a great job as a big sister, sharing her toys and all. Laurelei woke up for her first visit to the beach. And CJ and Grandma were the best of buds.

check up

On Saturday Laurelei and I had a check up, she has gained an ounce already and got a clean bill of health! We are doing well and she seems to be in a current growth spurt, eating every 45 minutes...makes for a long night, but still happy she is eating and is healthy. On Saturday I also had my AH HA moment if you will. After our check up we went to lunch and although I knew it already, it hit me as we walked in, we're a family of 4.

Sunday my parents came. We didn't really talk about it a head of time too much with CJ since we weren't sure when they were actually going to get here. When they called to find our house I told CJ that Grandma and Grandpa were almost here. She got so excited! She let out a shout of joy then began to run around the house and she peed on the floor. She was so excited she couldn't stop saying how she peed on the floor and grandma and grandpa are here. It was fun to see her so excited.

We're busy palying with the grandparents so that is all for now.

Pictures

We are home from the hospital and doing well. Thanks to Eric for getting the info out, he got most of it right, I really wasn't screaming, but I was insisting that I needed to push. Enjoy the pictures, we'll keep you updated!

One quick funny story...Eric didn't get to the hospital to pick us up until 10:30. The nurses kept asking if someone was coming for me...he got LOST!! yes LOST on the way to the hospital --as if he hadn't been making trips there the past 2 days. He claims he just got miss placed...but he has no idea how he got to where he was or found his way back to the hospital. Oh, the funnies of life.

LAURELEI ROSE RYAN IS HERE!!!

This is my first time blogging...am I suppose to type in this box??? I guess we'll find out.

Laurelei Rose Ryan was born on February 12, 2007 at 1210am. She weighed 7lbs 8oz...exactly the same as her big sister Chloe...and is 20 1/4" long. She has a little brown hair and blue eyes. Mommy and baby are doing great. Here is the story.

Around 530pm on the 11th of February Cyndy was feeling pretty strong contractions about 4 to 6 minutes apart and they kept intensifying as we drove to the hospital. The doctors told us to come on in because Cyndy may be farther along in the labor process than we may have imagined. We took Chloe to a friends house who watched her through the night (a big thank you), and we proceeded to go to the hospital about 40 minutes away. They hooked her up to the monitors and the doctors basically said that Cyndy was 2-3 centimeters dilated, but not really in active labor yet. So after about 30 minutes of monitoring they told her to go home and "sleep it off" and maybe there will be normal progessions through the night. We left the hospital at 900pm and about 15 to 20 minutes away from the hospital the nurses called us on our cell phone. "Um, we got a second opinion and you may want to turn around and come back to deliver the baby." Umm, OK. So basically we turned around and got back to the hospital around 930pm. The nurses proceeded to begin an IV around 945pm...oh wait...the IV didn't work....nope that one didn't either...nope blew the vein on that one...After 2 hours of being a pin cushion for 4 nurses trying about 4 different times...thats right...about 14-16 holes up and down her arms...the paged Emergency ICU doctor came up and got it in one stick around 1145pm. Around 1155pm Cyndy was screaming...I gotta push. The nurses were like "no...not yet....wait...you are amazing...she is at 9cm." She went from 5cm to 9 cm in about 40 minutes. The doctors were still yapping about the opportunities for an epideral or a spinal tap...when the nurses were yelling..."She's going to start pushing doc"... Doc's response "Oh, i better get my gown and gloves on." YEAH!! Oh, the anesthesiologist went home and it would have been a 25 minute commute for the epideral....they would have been too late....that's right...Cyndy had a natural birth with no pain medication...I am sooo proud of her. She started pushing at 1200am on the 12th of Feb. and the baby was born 10 minutes later...healthy...no complications.

Thanks for all your support.

FINALLY!!

Doing a big ol' happy dance...our fence is done!!! I gave up on the manager actually making phone calls, so I did and within a couple of days, look I have a fence! Nothing special, just a finishing of the privacy fence on the sides of the house to the border fences already in place. However, we have been here for 2 months and I think I could have moved out never seeing a fence if I hadn't just gotten on the horn and made it.

Still waiting for the baby to come. It has settled down a bit, it is out of room I'm sure, but I also hope that is a sign of things to come. We have been enjoying the sunshine and 70degree weather. CJ and Panther fight over the sticks they find outside, I guess I'm done buying toys, I'll just make sure we have a pile of sticks.

I am working on 200 wedding invitations for a friend who is getting married in July. I have half of them completely done. I had to re-order gold embossing powder and that should be here on Monday. However, today I got a message that her fiance has added to his guest list. She doesn't think they have gone over the 200 yet, and I hope they don't. So I am assembling vellum and ribbon to the invites and trying to get as many done as I can before the baby arrives. Eric even helped with some of the coloring -thank you! Here is a picture, we changed the rose color to Rose Red, but this is it:

??baby?? the question of the day

No baby -yet. However, last night it was kicking and trying to do some sort of fancy flips and I told it, that if it wants to move around like that and dance up a storm, it needs to move out. I am about 2 weeks from my due date, so really we have a little more time. I am feeling alright. Physically I am ready to have this baby, however, I also realize how drastically that means my life is about to change, and it is hard to even think about getting up every couple of hours again AND be chasing a toddler. So we are just waiting.
We haven't found a church yet, but we have gone to several. We are trying to attend each one at least twice if we think we might like it before deciding. We miss our church family in Grand Forks, but it is also hard to jump in and join another one, knowing that it is really temporary.
Our backyard fence should be done this week. I got everything lined up for the manager of the property, but he wanted to wait until he got the $$ from the owners. I understand, but I also understand that I have been as patient as I could have been over the past couple of months while he did nothing. I can't wait to have the back yard fenced in...currently we get random dogs that come and go, and I can't keep up with CJ fast enough if she goes around the corner to the front yard. We live on a very busy truck road and it scares me when she takes off running around the corner.
Eric's office has been great and he has been able to help around the house and get ready for the baby. He is anxious to begin IFS (apparently there is a rumor that he lost his pilot slot --he didn't, he is just waiting for his class slot). We continue to meet new people and go exploring the area. The weather really has been great, although everyone around here are bundled in winter jackets and many layers, it has been in the upper 40's and lower 50's for the past two days. By Wednesday we are suppose to reach 70 again. Anyone who is currently experiencing those bitterly cold temps and wind chill, are more than welcomed to come and visit...anytime!
