This is my first time blogging...am I suppose to type in this box??? I guess we'll find out.
Laurelei Rose Ryan was born on February 12, 2007 at 1210am. She weighed 7lbs 8oz...exactly the same as her big sister Chloe...and is 20 1/4" long. She has a little brown hair and blue eyes. Mommy and baby are doing great. Here is the story.
Around 530pm on the 11th of February Cyndy was feeling pretty strong contractions about 4 to 6 minutes apart and they kept intensifying as we drove to the hospital. The doctors told us to come on in because Cyndy may be farther along in the labor process than we may have imagined. We took Chloe to a friends house who watched her through the night (a big thank you), and we proceeded to go to the hospital about 40 minutes away. They hooked her up to the monitors and the doctors basically said that Cyndy was 2-3 centimeters dilated, but not really in active labor yet. So after about 30 minutes of monitoring they told her to go home and "sleep it off" and maybe there will be normal progessions through the night. We left the hospital at 900pm and about 15 to 20 minutes away from the hospital the nurses called us on our cell phone. "Um, we got a second opinion and you may want to turn around and come back to deliver the baby." Umm, OK. So basically we turned around and got back to the hospital around 930pm. The nurses proceeded to begin an IV around 945pm...oh wait...the IV didn't work....nope that one didn't either...nope blew the vein on that one...After 2 hours of being a pin cushion for 4 nurses trying about 4 different times...thats right...about 14-16 holes up and down her arms...the paged Emergency ICU doctor came up and got it in one stick around 1145pm. Around 1155pm Cyndy was screaming...I gotta push. The nurses were like "no...not yet....wait...you are amazing...she is at 9cm." She went from 5cm to 9 cm in about 40 minutes. The doctors were still yapping about the opportunities for an epideral or a spinal tap...when the nurses were yelling..."She's going to start pushing doc"... Doc's response "Oh, i better get my gown and gloves on." YEAH!! Oh, the anesthesiologist went home and it would have been a 25 minute commute for the epideral....they would have been too late....that's right...Cyndy had a natural birth with no pain medication...I am sooo proud of her. She started pushing at 1200am on the 12th of Feb. and the baby was born 10 minutes later...healthy...no complications.
Thanks for all your support.

Congratulations Ryan family! Can't wait to see pictures of the baby!
Yay, how fun. Congratulations on the baby and the great job on the blogging, so excited to hear so quickly.
Oh we love you all so much. Laurelei is such a lucky little girl to be born into such a wonderful family with a mom who is willing and able to make the ultimate sacrafises for her children, with a dad who is sensitive and caring enough to handle being the father of two girls (believe me I am one of two and my father is my hero cause not every man can handle a household full of women but I know Eric can), and a big sister who is so outgoing and ready to show Laurelei the big world. Can't wait to see you all. Take care.
Congrats Ryan family. I was a little slow in checking blogs due to family visiting so this was a super surpise to me!
