We hosted a fun Christmas in July. We had been given a 20lb turkey in May when some friends moved away and it seemed to be the best way to use it up. We had some neighbors over, Amy & Andre were here and had a great time! Here is a peek at the food.
I had never cooked a full turkey...well hmm...maybe I did once many years ago, before children...well it's not something this vegetarian does very often...if ever. Since it was July...and around here that means it is on the warm side...as in 115 degrees, I borrowed my friend's roaster and roasted it in the garage. It turned out pretty good, it exploded and wasn't exactly pretty coming out...but I hear it was tasty. Again, I didn't actually eat it.
Party potatoes... a hit, as always
And pasta salad, that the kids would eat at 3 meals a day every day, if I would let them
DESSERTS!!!!
Christmas cupcakes
Three pie varieties....mmmm, mmmm, mmmm,
I was going to tell you that this was my first ever pecan pie I made...but I'm not sure...darn Swiss cheese mommy brain...maybe I have made it once before. Lori brought a yummy apple, and Wendy, the pie master, brought a squash pie that I can't remember the name of...it was so good all one could focus on was getting another piece.
Okay, I have 15 minutes to spare...before September officially hits us here...Merry Christmas Everyone!
