I did my best to have things all set up and as easy as possible. I took Grandma grocery shopping before we left, and while we knew they would need milk, they were set. However, she made 2 more trips while we were gone, for 5 days. She made a comment about how do I grocery shop with 3 kids by myself when we live (about 20mins) from the store. Please understand, she lives basically across the street from a grocery store. She could walk there, shop and walk home in the time it takes me just to get to the store. And since it's just her and Grandpa, she can make quick little trips and just get what they need, as they need it. I typically don't grocery shop more than once a week, and normally I do a big trip that lasts a couple of weeks and only pick up milk or some other random item if really needed.
CJ was missing us one night and Grandma sat down and talked with her about Mommy and Daddy needing to take a little break once in awhile, without the kids. CJ's response, "Well, they should have done that BEFORE they had me."
On Tuesday between school and gymnastics Grandma thought a "quick trip" to Target was in order. As she drove and drove, and thought surely she had gone too far, CJ let her know, "you still have to go up the really big hill". Target is 30 minutes, unless you hit it after school and go through school zones and have traffic, then it is longer. Grandma laughed at the mere 10 minutes they got at Target before needing to leave to ensure they made it to gymnastics on time. Only once did Grandpa catch Kjetil and Laurelei attempting a circus act outside, and overall we got a very good report about the kids behaving well.
We took them to the zoo yesterday before they left. It was a beautiful day. And one last fabulous adventure before they left.
Thank you again, for taking wonderful care of your grandchildren! It was easy to get away knowing they would have fun and be well cared for. And all the little extras you took care of, made it so my vacation didn't end--until you left this morning. Thank you.
Now don't stay away for too long!
