The cold doesn't keep us home.

Recently we have had morning temperatures colder than upstate New York or even Minnesota.  I believe there is something fundamentally wrong with that.  Since this is such a snow bird area, I really didn't think each winter I would need to have real winter gear.  So the kids don't.  We just layer, layer, then layer again.  And I'm very thankful for PM kinder, it was 47 Tuesday morning when I took her to school at 11:15 and 45 degrees with lots of wind Monday morning.

The day after Thanksgiving, some call Black Friday, was a day we were NOT going to the store, the mall, the movie theater or anywhere else that might have a deal going on.  Instead I dropped the car off for a recall fix and took the kids to the zoo despite the chill in the air.  I even got to bring them home, they were so well behaved!

She hopped on the elephant and informed me she was riding it to California and that it would take 3 days.
Have fun!

I love their hands on opportunities.

However he started to get too comfortable with the snake and I had visions of my neighbor's snake finds in her yard and that it would be good for him to fear them. At that point, we moved on.

This one could spend days at the zoo.

A short refueling break...pears hit the spot

Pleeeaaasssseeee....let me out, I promise I won't show the monkeys up in my climbing skills.

While we don't shy away from the cold...everyone has a cold around here..the kids are slowly learning that shoes out side are a must!  This week, at night, it has gotten cold enough that we have had the heat on.  And I typically forget to turn it off during the day, despite every time I hear it kick on I think...oh I need to turn it off...apparently I'm easily distracted.
