Quick update

After purchasing more space to share more pictures, I have barely been blogging.  I do have pictures and fun things to share.  But laundry has kept us busy, along with life.

Last Friday afternoon CJ began to complain about her eyes, but not too seriously and despite her claims of not being able to see, there was clear evidence that in fact she could see.  After supper, as she looked up at me, I noticed the obvious signs of red, watery, gunky, pink eye.  Both eyes.  As I felt bad about realizing so late why her eyes were bothering her, I turned my head and saw that Kjetil had red eyes and gunk in one of them as well.  I asked CJ if she thought she could go to sleep, she said yes, so as a practical mommy, I put them to bed and waited till the morning when sure enough Sweetness had developed her own gunky pink eye.  I took them all into urgent care.  The doctor walked into the very small exam room, took a look at Kjetil and stopped dead in his tracks.

The doctor then without getting any closer to us, informed me that he had an "ocular infection".

Really doc?

He took a very quick glance at the girls and confirmed they had conjunctivitis as well.

I was surprised when he stepped forward and shook all the kids' hands before he left the room.  Surprised because he gave clear indication upon entering the room that he did not want what we had.

Thankfully, I did not get it.

Neither did Eric, but he has been on some pretty powerful anti-malaria drugs for the past several months and that kicks about everything out of the system from what I hear.

Oh, the kids were in a good mood despite crusty yucky eyes, I think it had something to do with picking up Eric from the airport after filling the eye drop prescription.

So on top of doing everybodys' bedding Saturday and Sunday to help get rid of the pink eye germs, we got Eric's four large suitcases of laundry as well.

The pink eye has cleared up.  Monday, we were back to our normal activities and routines.
We've had a busy week.

Then at 3:30AM Thursday morning, Kjetil threw up.  Change of bedding again for him, a bath, and he seemed awful cheerful and I was afraid it was the start of our day.  So grateful he was willing to go back to bed after his bath.

He was his normal running around self all day Thursday.

About 2PM Sweetness began complaining about her tummy hurting. She thought a cookie would help. Having no cookies, Eric thought ice cream could work. I was at the school volunteering at the book fair.  At about 3:30 Sweetness laid herself down and took a nap.  At 5PM I got her up and sat with her as she complained that her stomach still hurt.  Yep, you guessed it, she threw up.

She also perked up after that.  Also having no other symptoms of a fever and her stomach feeling better, she joined in helping to put the Christmas tree up.

Her stomach did not like the water she guzzled nor the milk that followed, but went to bed feeling pretty good.

At 11:30PM, we hear CJ in the hallway. She tells Eric that she threw up in her bed, and smiles a big ol' smile as she tells him what it looked like.  I'll spare you the details.  She said she felt fine. I put her in the shower, and we changed sheets again.

We have been blessed with children who will sleep through a sibling's bed being changed, even if I turn on the light to do so.

So here it is now Friday, and just as we thought we had truly caught up on all the laundry, we have another, late night, round going.

Eric has found that I have a weakness.  And I'll admit it.

When vomit is involved, I have a very weak stomach.  The weakness seems to hit harder when there is an option for someone else to deal with it.

There I've said it.
